END OF YEAR CEA 2024 RETIREMENT & RECOGNITION BANQUET
The Puxico CEA successfully hosted its annual retirement and awards banquet on Friday, May 3.
Honored for their contributions to the students of the Puxico R-8 School District and their fellow co-workers, four staff members were voted the District’s Teacher/Staff Member of the Year. Among the honorees were Jennifer Parsley, Puxico Elementary Teacher of the Year; Will Davis, Puxico Junior High Teacher of the Year; Karen Haynes, Puxico High School Teacher of the Year; and Don McRoy, Puxico Support Staff Member of the Year.
The banquet also celebrated the contributions and upcoming retirement of some if its valuable staff members. Mrs. Annette Frazier joined the Puxico R-8 District and served one year as a junior high communication arts teacher. Mrs. Frazier is retiring with 24 total years of service in the education field. Mrs. Marla Clark is also on track to enjoy retirement after 31 years of teaching in public education, of which 28 years were spent in the Puxico R-8 School District. While at Puxico, Mrs. Clark spent most of her time as a kindergarten teacher before transitioning over to teach with the District’s Federal Programs and Title Services. Celebrating her retirement as Elementary Principal, was Mrs. Tammy Thompson. Mrs. Thompson first joined the staff at Puxico as the instructional coach and curriculum director before she was promoted to elementary principal. Mrs. Thompson has served 32 years in public education, with the last 5 years being devoted to the Puxico R-8 School District.
In addition to the staff retirements, the District recognized the service of two board members. Mr. Dusty Stroud finished his term on the Puxico Board of Education serving at total of 7 years. Also honored was Mr. John Davis. Mr. Davis was celebrated for his longtime service and commitment to the District for the last 30 years that he served on the Puxico Board of Education.
The HS band, which include 8th grade, performed a magnificent concert last night! They played music pieces that truly reflect all they have learned under the direction of Mr. Murphy. We can’t wait to see what next year brings for this group of talented students.
Prom Saturday night was a huge success. Everyone looked amazing and had great time. Shout out to your 2024 Prom King and Queen, Trevor Fortner and Kelby Rodger. We would also like to thank our amazing sponsors for all their hard work for making this night happen, Mrs. Fernetti, Mrs. Parsley, Ms. Emmons, Mrs. Armstrong, and Mrs. Douglas!
Today, the Beta Club students made their annual trip to Memphis to watch a Redbird baseball game. Both the students and teachers had a great time and the weather was perfect. Thank you to Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Tafoya, Mrs. Moss, Mrs. Stroud, and Mr. Jaco for chaperoning the trip today. Also, thanks to all the parents made the trip and joined the students on the trip.
Elementary Honors Banquet 2024. We had a great turnout to honor our elementary students and their academic accomplishments last night.
Congratulations to Mrs. Lewis for providing a fantastic art show. So many cool projects. I hope you were able to stop by and see them.
Students enjoyed track and field events at the Goodwill Games hosted by Dexter School today. They participated in running, throwing and jumping competitions and had a blast playing games with students from other Stoddard County schools. It was such a fun day for everyone!!
The 2023-2024 yearbook staff hosted the 2024 Puhicah ceremony this evening. They had a great crowd for the ceremony. Everyone was beautiful! The winners are as follows:

Congratulations to our Scholar Bowl team for winning districts!
Ella Dunivan, Silas Florence, and Stephanie Day were voted All-District!

Total Eclipse 2024
It was an exciting night for the Lady Indians Volleyball Team at the SCAA Tournament!! Our 8th grade team won the 3rd place game against Bell City and 7th grade took 2nd place after going three sets in close competition with Dexter. Congratulations ladies!! Keep up the good work!
