With the retirement announcement of our current junior high school principal, Todd Jenkins, and a request granted from Mr. Jordan Ellsworth to move buildings, the Puxico R-8 School District began the search for a new high school principal. The Puxico R-8 School welcomes the new principal, Kris Chamberlain, as we begin to prepare for next school year at Puxico High.
With a non-traditional journey into education, Mr. Chamberlain discovered his passion for teaching in his 30s. Starting as an ELA teacher in middle school, he transitioned to high school, where he spent the last four years teaching social sciences. He is dedicated to building strong relationships with students and staff and stays informed on the latest educational practices to enhance each learning experience. Mr. Chamberlain also spent eight years coaching middle school football and has been an active supporter of his children’s athletic endeavors.
With a BA in Political Science from the University of Memphis, a BS in Middle School Education, and a Master’s in Secondary Administration from Southeast Missouri State University,
Mr. Chamberlain is excited for the opportunity to join the Puxico School Community.
Mr. Chamberlain and his wife, Kimmy, have three children—Bailey (21), Drew (19), and Luke (15)—along with two dogs and ten chickens. His hobbies include gardening, exercising, traveling, reading, searching for the perfect pizza, and listening to music. Additionally, Mr. Chamberlain likes doing obstacle course races like Warrior Dash and Tough Mudder, and plans to do his third Tough Mudder competition this summer. He believes in the importance of community involvement and recently helped establish a community garden to provide fresh produce for those in need in his community.
Please join us in welcoming Kris Chamberlain to Puxico High School and our school community.
